WHERE TO GO IN CHA AM: TRANSPORTATION

Cha Am is not a big place, but in the warm Thailand sunshine even the shortest walk can leave you hot and sweaty, so it pays to know your options for getting around. Click the relevant button to get more information and to see where you can avail yourself of these services around Cha Am.

Car Hire is a good option if you are planning to travel to neighbouring towns, or to attractions outside of Cha Am, but be aware of the parking options where you are staying.

Motorbike Hire is probably people's favourite way of getting around when in Cha Am. The general pace isn't too fast, and there aren't the traffic dangers that you will encounter in crazy places like Bangkok. Also very convenient as you can park right outside wherever you're going, and in this wonderful climate it's a carefree way to get around.

Bicycle hire is highly popular with people who just want to cruise up and down the beach, and you can hire 2, 3 and 4 seater bikes to make it that much more fun. You can also hire more serious bikes if you are fit and happy to ride longer distances.

Motorbike Taxi's are cheap and there are plenty around. They will usually be quite happy to take two passengers but some people I know take two motorbike taxi's to make the ride more comfortable.

Taxi's are of course the option if you need to ferry a number of people around, and usually the best option if you're heading somewhere like Hua Hin for a night on the town. You can choose from regular air conditioned vehicles and the 'two seater' taxis where there are essentially two bench seats on the rear of a small truck with just a roof over the top. Quite popular with tourists due to the lovely weather.

Mini Buses are really for those who are travelling an extended distance, like heading to a new destination or going back to the airport. There are numerous services leaving at quite regular intervals, mainly heading North or South.

Coach/Bus services are for those who want a comfortable, air-conditioned  long distance journey. These are very popular with Thai people who are going as far as Phuket, Chiang Mai, etc.
