1. Check what products the Salon is using. Their prices may appear competitive on the surface, but if you don't recognise the brand of the products being used, you could end up disappointed.

2. Ask about the stylist - where they were trained, what qualifications they have. Also, if you're a western visitor, find out how much experience they have with your kind of hair. Asian women tend to have very strong, thick hair which can take a lot more punishment than that of many European ladies. It is especially true when it comes to heat.

3. Most Salons will have a price range for most services, so make sure you discuss what you want and what the price will be before you go in. If the proprietor just takes one look at you and gives a price, be cautious. You should expect them to discuss what you want, the nature and condition of your hair, what products you may wish to use before talking price.
